One cigarette doesn't do much. But when was the last time a smoker only smoked one cigarette?

Combustion is combustion, you always get carbon dioxide being released from it. A cig may not be as big as a car, but a heavy smoker can create more CO2 each year then a person who rarely drives an eco-friendly-ish internal combustion engine car.

Part of the reason we protect the environment is so that the environment isn't harmful to people.

Smoking is harmful to you and the people around you. That's why you should stop smoking. Smoking isn't harmful to the atmosphere but it doesn't matter if the atmosphere is safe if everyone else is dead.

I am not a smoker myself and am trying to get my husband to quit as I cannot stand the smell, but I don't think that cigarettes are THAT harmful to the atmoshpere. They are more dangerous to other people and to the people around you.
