Citations would be appreciated.

My 6 yr old attends a private school that is closing next year. She is in Kindergarten. Next year she is going to public school and I received information that she will need to know for 1st grade. After reviewing it with my daughter, she dosen't have the concept of:
Telling time to the hour,
her sight words,
or understanding addition and subtraction

So, dispite the fact I paid for this school to teach my daughter, they have not done a good job of it and now I need to do it at home. But how?

I need teaching methods for possible learning disabled children. I do not know if she is disabled or if her teacher just didn't teach her.

Please help me, I don't want her to struggle next year.

Ok, so I tutor these two 4th grade girls. I give them math worksheets all the time but sometimes it gets really boring. I don't know what else to give them because they need help in simple division, muliplication. When I was that age my teacher used to give us math worksheets with a joke and if you got alll the questions right, the awnser to the joke was revealed and it made sence. I've been looking for worksheets like that for a really long time online and in bookstores. Is there ary website I can go to to print out worksheets like that? Or any books taht I can buy like that?
Thank you so much for helping!

I teach highschool Juniors at an urban highschool in Massachusetts. I have been teaching World Literature for just a couple of years and I've found that with all the technology in the world, that my students don't have an idea about what is going on outside their everyday lives. After discussing this with fellow teachers a question was formed; how can you teach about the ocean when your students have never seen, smelled, heard, tasted, or felt the ocean. We expect students to be able to read and learn about certain texts from around the world, yet how do we put those texts into context. The context is what I'm trying to teach. My students are always asking me about the importance of learning about the world, how do I make what I'm teaching relevent to them? That is the basis of my overarching question.
