There was no Children's Act in 1998 in the UK

As for the Employment Rights Act of 1996, it confers the following rights to UK citizens:

* the workers right to see details of their particulars of employment (pay statements etc).
* Paid time off work for public duties (eg jury duty), ante natal care, and training.
* To be given a written notice of dismissal and an appropriate notice period
* Dismissal related to pregnancy, maternity or other forms of parental leave, dismissal related to a request for flexible working, and dismissal related to health and safety or asserting statutory rights are to be considered automatically unfair under the ERA. Any worker dismissed in these circumstances can claim for unfair dismissal.
