Hi All,

I am Deepali staying in Mumbai city of India. My mother-tongue is Marathi (one of the many languages that is speak in India). Our National Language is Hindi and the Standard Communication language is English. English is widely used in all the offices, schools. So most of the people in Mumbai know all the three languages (Marathi, Hindi and English). So we (me, my husband and my other relatives) most of the time talk with my baby either in Marathi or in English. My baby is currently 1 year and 3 months old. She understands now few words of Marathi and few words of English.

I have read somewhere that baby’s grasping power of learning different language is very good in this age. I was just wondering that shall I speak to her in one more language say “Sanskrit” which is India’s ancient Language? (I have also studies that language). Will that be a burden and/or confusion for her? Please help me in knowing this answer.

Speaking Sanskrit will be an added advantage as it mak

I think homework is the worst educational idea! You sit in school for 6 hours and then you go home to do about 2-4 more hours of homework. then adults say "wait until your older and then you have to have a job"! that's just the point, we aren't adults yet so let us have our childhood while we are young. Also, homework can take way to much time. I can learn how to do the pythagorean theorem by doing about 6 question, So why do we have to do worksheets with 40 questions. Also, school is for learning and homework is to review so why do teachers waste our time by making us read chapters and take notes by ourselves, we are teaching ourselves. Are some teachers really that lazy that they make us read the chapter? another point I have is homework over vacation, Vacation is time off where you don't work, homework is work to be done at home! Lastly, it is more annoying that the only people who understand are the kids because most adults have to compare today to their friggen childhood!

Not that I would study everything, but I would like to know my way around the subject a bit more (n_n)

I have a BS in Multimedia and Graphic design with 2+ years work experience. I think I would be more satisfied teaching and mentoring high school art students. Since I already have a college degree, what could I do now to get into that field?

I already have the newer version of "Romeo and Juliet" with DeCaprio, and "West Side Story". I was hoping for a list of more contemporary movies using the same theme to show my students how Shakespeare is still relevant today.

I am a first year Language Arts teacher at a small private school. I teach 6,7, and 8 grade Language Arts. It is time for me to present Greek Mythology to the students ,and I am unsure how and what to present. I would like to do something different with each grade level and I don't want to do speeches or reports, and I don't want to act anything out. Something fun, original, and informative is what I am aiming for. I've done some internet research and I have found some good websites; however, I am still unsure exactly just how to present it. Any ideas?

I teach Spainsh to 1st graders. We do play the occasional game but sometimes they never listen. My partner and I would ask them questions but they would be too busy watching the other group play games all the time then they whine when we have to teach and can't play. We even had a little girl go in the corner and cry because we couldn't play a game because they all misbehaved. What should my partner and I do to disipline them?

I guess it would be considered that. I found out that she talks to her teacher friends about me alot, whether it be bad or good. She's also sadistic about giving me papers to grade by slamming them down in front of me, then smiling about it. Why does she act like this?

Teachers think that they deserve respect the second you meet them..all because they paid a $60,000 tuition all just to get 20 to 30 thousand dollars a year...and for a job that they dont even work summers or the holidays that WE students get off on. i think that teachers should earn respect just like they say we have to earn theirs...just because they picked this lazy job and complain about kids not following their rules..they think we should automaticly give them respect..what do you think?
