All humans favor some over others- remove this trait and the person stops being human.

Teachers tend to favor those who are making an effort, show an interest, and reciprocate attention- just like anyone else would in that situation.

If you are one of those who needs help- ask. Teachers LOVE to be asked for help (as long as it is not done in an annoying way, sucking up, etc.)!

Some students don't need help because they are fine on their own, some need more help than others. It depends on what you mean by favour. Do you consider spending more time with slow learners a favour or do you consider getting extra home work a show of favortism?

You probably won't like my answer, because I think you are looking for sympathy and other people who agree with you. Well, this is the biggest hoax perpetrated on kids - that parents and teachers should like all their children equally. Not so! Even though they won't admit it, teachers and parents have favourites. Do you know who the favourites are?? The ones that are easy going, follow rules, don't rock the boat, are generally pleasant, do as they are asked. Now parents love their kids equally but they DON'T LIKE them equally. Think about your friends, or siblings, do you love them all equally?? .......so, to answer your question, it may not be fair, but it's real life, cookie! And when you are out in the real world, you'll see that people in business get promoted over others because bosses like some better than others. Life is generally not a fair place and the sooner you learn to cope with this "shocking" fact, the sooner you will succeed.

It is not that "we" teachers favor one student over another. " The plain truth is that some students are very difficult to work with. I personally treat all students with respect. Yet, if a student talks to me with an attitude, is rude, or just plain difficult. I continue to be respectful. BUT....I limit my interaction with that specific child that has conduct problems to the bare minimum. If I see that a child shows a desire to learn, is polite and has acceptable social skills, I'll give that child BETTER service. That's just the way it is. Let me ask you a question...Do you like to hang out with peers that are nice to you or with those that are rude? The answer is obvious, we maximize our interaction with those that treat us with respect.
