If you are a teacher and the majority of your students have behavioral problems and act up every day, does that mean that you do not have good classroom management skills?

Not that I want to get written up, but I'm just wondering. I've skipped that woman's class twice and she knew about it, because she would come looking for me at lunch, but couldn't find me. The other day she searched the whole freakin school for me. I told her intern that I hate my teacher and that she is a ***** and so is all her other teacher friends. They really are because all they do is sit in there and talk about people. And I also threw her pen across the room and she couldn't find it cause it was there the next day. She was out of the room the whole time I did that though. Two people from that class said she came in mad and said she was gonna write me up for skipping but never did, and i've done that twice. The next day she wouldn't talk to me, look at me, or anything. We used to have a good teacher-student relationship, but I think i found out that all those teachers plus her were talking about me so I got really mad. I'm a girl with a bad attitude when it comes to it.

If people are writing so incoherently where others will see it, our country is in trouble. Even if you have trouble spelling, there is a spell checker right above the question you are submitting!

Have two offers. One is with a huge district further away from my home. The pay is a little less but I really liked the staff and could picture myself working there. The kids are very needy though, but it would be rewarding.
The other one is my home district ..the pay is a bit better, but the principal is evidentally a bit controlling and it's not as positive of a place to work. however, it's less of a commute and i could work my way to a school MUCH closer to home. what do i choose?

So, today in Spanish class. The Spanish teacher was talking about geography; then, the class didn't really understand what he meant, and this is what he said, ''Americans always have problems with geography. Don't you agree?" then our homeroom teacher said, ''I sure do'', . It was like he was calling the class stupid.

Hi, I'm graduating next year from a double major in English/Linguistics. I'm thinking that I just might like to go and teach English overseas somewhere for the experience.

I was wondering, for anyone who might know, what are the major countries in which these opportunities exist? The place that always seems to be mentioned most is China, but I've also heard people mention places in Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia ie. Vietnam, Thailand, South America, etc.

If anyone has some examples I'd appreciate it very much. It's tough to find reliable information on this kind of thing online, I'm always worried since people always say you have to be very careful, a lot of non-reputable organizations out there.

Thanks

My child is regularly (every day, for one or more lessons) put with a remedial boy to help him with his work. I worry whether my child is missing out on his own work (the class is setted, and the work this child needs help with is of a much lower level), and perhaps he should not be used in this way.

I worry that the teacher is not working my son to his full ability - but letting him cruise a bit!! and getting an easy life in the process. The other boy is lovely - they are mates in the playground - but I am uncomfortable with my son being used in this way.

Am I worrying over nothing? Why would a teacher use another pupil in this way?

Although I hadn't read the book or seen the movie yet, I realized that after being laid off lats year and constantly worrying that I'd be homeless and starving, I became homeless and starving. I thought if I could put as much effort into having a positive thought, I wonder if it would have the same effect.

So in December I started saying over and over to myself 'Every molecule of my being has a positive attractive force that brings me a constant stream of income form several different sources." For the last 2 months I've always been surprised at the money that keeps popping up in funny places for me. Although largely out of work, I have a surprisingly good financial life!

Now having read the book, I think I can put other wants and needs into better action.

Anyone have other stories of using and gaining from the law of attraction?

Any tips? This class is not too bright, about 20 students aged 16. I'm supposed to teach summary writing. I'm a relatively new English teacher.

I think teachers should have the right to carry a gun that requires a combination code to work. If this happens, there will never be over 30 kids killed at a time again.

ANYONE can post information on Wikipedia. Students should not use it to write research papers; no one should consult it except for general information about a topic - and then recognize that the information could be wrong or misleading.

Are TAs a help or not? When i was doing my work experience in a school the TA just stood about making as much noise as possible when it was story reading etc time and i was just wondering how teachers felt about them? are they essential to a classroom?

(i also know that not al TA's will be like that and she was just ignorant but as a whole i was just wondering)

I would really like input from parents, teachers, students, principals, or anyone else involved in school.

Also, do you have any suggestions as an alternative solution?

I don't pay much attention to my teacher that I assist for. I mean I do things that she tells me to do, but I don't look at her all the time and stuff. I think she tries to stuff to get my attention just so I'd notice her. Like when she gives me something to grade, she'll kinda slam the pen down on the papers then stand there for a few seconds and stare at me. Once, I was out in the hall grading papers and she came out there for no reason and stood there and stomped her foot once, then when I looked at her she smiled and told me the same thing that she said before about what to do with the papers. Then today, she walked around asking a question and walked by me and asked me "ain't that right?" and kinda pushed my head down. But when I talk to her, she hardly pays any attention to me. Why does she act like this? I was a previous student of hers so we've known each other for over a year. I'm a girl by the way.

i'm a first year 4th grade teacher and i need help teaching customary measurment (inches, feet, cups, pints, quart, gallons, etc.)

my students seem to understand all the unit of measure, but have trouble doing even simple conversions...like cups to gallons, or figuring out how many feet are in a certain number of miles.

any cool lesson ideas or tips?
