Ironically, Jehovah's Witnesses use the bible as the sole authority for their beliefs and teachings.

Since the bible does not contradict itself, it seems impossible to use the bible against Jehovah's Witnesses. Most anti-Witnesses recognize this and simply resort to ad hominem attacks and quotes from philosophers. Other anti-Witnesses simply talk about how much they enjoy their pagan holidays, thus implying that their human preferences are more important that God's will.

John 8:28 says: "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me....

I have found you can't prove them wrong.

You may disagree with their understanding of the verse in question.

But that doesn't prove them wrong.

John 1:1, You can find scholars that say that the Word was God.

and you can find scholars that say God(2) is a quality, not an idenitifcation.

meaning the Word was godlike, divine, or a god.

It will boil down to which scholar you want to believe.

If you want to take the bible as a whole, and let it interpet itself, then you will find J.W.'s will be more accurate in their understanding.

If you recognize that we read an english bible, and not 'bible' english. You will find that the bible will interpet itself.

example

Col 1:15 is another easy to understand scripture,

NASB: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.“

1st Jesus is an image, not God. (Notice what Satan does concerning Jesus at 2 Cor. 4:4)
When did image worship become acceptable to God?

2nd Strongs 4416 under firstborn: 4416. prototokos pro-tot-ok'-os; first-born (usually as noun, literally or figuratively):--firstbegotten(-born).

m-w.com/dictionary/firstborn = first brought forth: ELDEST

Christ is the eldest or oldest of Jehovah’s creation.

Last: ‘of all creation’, ‘of creation’, or ‘of creatures’ depending on the bible you use.

(NIV ‘over creation’ is an error in translation, because the Greek word for ‘of’ used here never means ‘over’ see Truth in Translation by Jason BeDuhn, page 81)

This phrase means Christ is included in creation.
(see Truth in Translation by Jason BeDuhn, pages 81, 84)

‘The foremost of men’ / ‘the greatest of houses’ means that the foremost is also a man, the greatest is also a house.

Just as Christ is the firstborn from the dead, he is the oldest one resurrected to heaven. vs 18

Biblegateway.com says in order to undestand this verse you have to apply Plato's teaching.

Are you going to believe Paul or Plato?

What about John at Rev 1:6?

How about Jesus at John 10:36 ?

or

Jehovah Himself at Matt 3:17 ?

Yes. The Bible of the Jehovah witnesses changes one Bible verse, actually, John 1:1. John 1:1 actually says, "In the beginning, the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." The version the Jehovah witnesses give out says, "In the beginning, the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." This change of verse is saying that Jesus was only a man, and it is completely incorrect in translation as Greek has no indefinite articles such as "a" or "an." You can also find fault in their beliefs by looking at the Gospels, Luke, for instance, and the Resurrection. Jesus resurrected, so he was not simply a prophet, but the Son of God. John 8:28, again, shows Jehovah witnesses as being wrong. "Therefore I said to you, You will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

Maybe post this where it belongs, I'm sure you would get plenty of answers.

I am curious why you would need to prove a religion false. If you know yours is correct what does it matter???

Why are you set against the witnesses? Obviously you don't know the teachings but yet you want to "prove it" wrong? Sounds fishy to me. And yes I'm one of 'them'. Oh, the horror! and yes that is sarcasm in case anyone interprets that wrong, ha.
