I may be moving to Alaska this year and have been thinking about becoming a teacher for the past few years. Can anyone tell me what's required to be a teacher, or a substitute in AK? I have a B.A. and can pass a background check. Would I need to get a degree in education? What is the need like for teachers up there and what standards do you have to meet? I'm willing to teach any grade, but have a preference for middle and high school.

I teach kindergarten and I am having trouble coming up with a title for my January bulletin board. The bulletin board has snowflakes on it. On some of the snowflakes children have written facts they have learned about snow. Also the children painted some of the snowflakes so that they are symmetrical. They did a very nice job. Please help....I am looking for something fun, creative and catchy to use as my title. Thanks....

I took a science test at school yesterday.
There was a fill in the balnk question that said "Two cars are going in opposite directions on a highway. The cars may have the same speed, but they can't have the same ______"

I knew the answer was Velocity (speed with direction) but just for fun, I answered "...they can't have the same Car Plate":
-I haven't got my test back, so I dont know if it was OK.-

In July 2006 I handed in a RE assesment, in which I tried for the highest level, level 8. I gave up lunches and much time after school to complete. After summer term holiday, I went back to my teacher and asked for it back with the mark. My teacher said she sent it to County Hall to be marked by the RE coordinator as she cannot mark levels that high.
Since then, I still have not received it, now 6 months on.On one occasion, she told me I got a "definitly" got a level 7.
Since then, she kept saying "we havn't received it yet" or "I've asked someone to contact them", all of the time.
Today, I was told I got a level 6 by the head of RE, and to "stop looking into the past and concentrate on Year 11".
I think it was lost, but they won't say it.
I wouldn't want to see it this desperatly if I hadn't put so much time and effort into it.
All I want is it back. What can I do? What are the next steps?
Contact County Hall to see if they received it?
Can someone advise?

Hello I have a BS in nutrition and an MS in exercise physiology. I really would love to become a high school science, gym, or math teacher (my strong subjects). I just bought a house so I need money and I have to stay in PA. I was wondering if there are any programs or options to become a teacher with nighttime classes (after 5pm). I looked into the university of pittsburgh teaching certificate program and it is 1 year full time where you must go full time during the day and student teach. Is there any other way to get your certification if you are a single mom and have to work. If I got paid I could do it but I could not quit my job for one year, pay for the one year school to become a teacher. I could however pay for classes at night and take them on a part-time student basis.

But says the customer , ther e is nothing in that shop. [ The neighbouring shop, incidentally, was emty and vacant].Dont be annoyed: this is what a teacher set his class of 13 year-olds to work on and the results could do credit to a philosopher of knowledge!. I can't adapt to her teaching methods and she has a monotony voice. Due to this, I have a hard time concentrating in class and I tuned her voice out most of the time.

I am told that nationally we have a deficit of teachers. However finding a job in my state, Washington, seems near impossible when there are over 80 applicants for 1 position. I am close to finishing my certification and worry that I won't be able to get a job. Please give me your thoughts on what will make me more marketable to get a teaching job.
