In July 2006 I handed in a RE assesment, in which I tried for the highest level, level 8. I gave up lunches and much time after school to complete. After summer term holiday, I went back and asked for it back and the mark. My teacher said she sent it to County Hall to be marked by the RE coordinator as she cannot mark levels that high.
Since then, I still have not received it, now 6 months on. I did see her once, in which she told me I got a "definitly" got a level 7.
Since then, she kept saying "we havn't received it yet", all of the time.
Today, I was told I got a level 6 by the head of RE, and to "stop looking into the past and concentrate on Year 11".
I think it was lost, but they won't say it.
I wouldn't want to see it this desperatly if I hadn't put so much time and effort into it.
All I want is it back. What can I do? What are the next steps?
Contact County Hall to see if they received it?
Can someone advise?

Put your enquiry in writing to the County Hall and request your marked assignment back. Send the letter registered and if you dont get a satisfactory response take the matter up with your local MP. My son in law had a similar problem with his college - they lost some of his assignments and he had to re-do them at his own expense in his own time. Dont let this go - demand answers xxx

Slightly off-topic, you should start with a better question than "What can I do next" - something more specific with a better likelihood of attracting people who know your subject matter to read and answer your question. Most people on here don't know what a "RE assessment" is, but with a better question they'd know they can't help you BEFORE they click through and read your whole story.

I would think your teacher would be sympathetic to the fact that you want it back and want to know how it was marked, and take some responsibility for the situation as she was the one who forwarded it to County Hall. Unless as a matter of county policy these are ordinarily never returned (unlikely), for her to not at least place a phonecall on your behalf in an attempt to get you a better answer on what happened would be shameful. You probably should have pressed for a more definitive answer from the head of RE when you were talking with them, and if the teacher won't help, that's where I'd go again and try to get them to give you a straight answer, or directly ask why they won't.

Work should always be returned so that you can read the comments of the marker and therefore learn by the whole experience. Don't let this go. Make sure you chase it up and give good reasons for wanting it back, not just, I want it, I worked hard. That matters but put it back on the teachers. You want it to learn from, then they're put in a tough spot if they don't help you...

I would definately look into that, you deserve to know after all the effort you have put in.
It just shows a lack of respect from your teachers who couldnt be bothered to give it the time of day it deserved.
I hope you get this sorted out chick xx
