Well you would want them to think yes it would as its basic science, however a proffessor of philosophy would argue that it wouldnt, like does a tree that falls in the middle of a forest with no one around make a sound, - if noone is there to see or hear then can we say that it would...

yes - we aren't even aware of it and we are here while it is happening. it makes no difference. the anawer i suppose depends on whether you are answering form an astonomical or a philosophical perspective.

yes but there would be no-one around to be aware of it!
So, technically, yes it would be rotating of its own volition but it wouldn't matter since there would be nothing around to care!
