There is a series called "No Bullies Allowed" by Teddy Slater. I have not read them any yet but I have ordered them for my classroom. Each story is open ended for beginning readers and helps bring up discussion for conflicts and how to make responsible solutions.

Hope that this helps.

A real good book (that is also out as a movie now) is Charlotte's Web. It has the themes you are looking for (especially on second chances and keeping promises) and the story is loved by elementary students. Try using some drama in your lesson plan focused on these themes to help the children remember them.

It would be more helpful if you included the names of the books you found. Here is an example of a lesson I did with a similar assignment:

I read the book "The Crayon Box that Talked" aloud and then talked with the class about everyone being special in their own way. Then, I gave each student a crayon shaped cutout (that I pre-cut out of construction paper) and told them to draw or write on their crayon what is special about them. (I would use draw for younger children and write- or both- for older). Then I had each student come up and place their crayon in the "box" that I had made out of a piece of yellow poster board. I just drew green lines on it and wrote "Miss ....'s Crayons" in green. The kids loved it and it was great to hang in the classroom.

The themes of this lesson are: teaching diversity, tolerance, and differences among people.
