What type of lie, is actually a truth ?

(This may be the original sin that has deceived mankind since Eden! )

Truth is truth, we are taught that.
Lies are lies, we are taught that.
But what kind of lie is actually a truth ?

The problem is with the student, a female in the second grade. Her parents were divorced within the past two years, and she lives with her father. She has a teenage brother and a teenage sister who don't really care much for her well-being, and who are out of control, according to the father. The student in question is below grade level in all academic areas, and she has low self-esteem. She already has severe attendance problems within just the first month of school. (Obviously, there are other issues here; they are already being addressed.)

Other students in the classroom avoid sitting with her because of her body odor. What's a tactful way of approaching the father with this situation ?

I teach a 6th grade class and one of my students in the front row was fast asleep in class. What discipline policies do you (other educators) have for not sleeping class? What are ways to prevent this in the future considering the school year has just started?

In July I was verbally offered a teaching position by the Superintendent of a high school, who said his "word was gold" and only needed the approval of his board, which he assured me would happen. Based on this information, I traveled to the state the school was located in, and rented a car to begin looking for apartments. The day I arrived, the Superintendent called me to notify me that enrollment projections had changed, and there would no longer be a position for me. Do I have any legal right to request reimbursement for my plane ticket and rental car costs for the trip?

I talked back at my teacher (bad idea) and she verbally emasculated me at the end of class (which really sucked). There is no doubt that I was in the wrong, but do you think she'll hold a grudge? Any teachers/students out there who can tell me from experience? Or, have you experienced teacher-backlash?Thanks :)

My studeents are driving me CRAZY! They will not stop talking! I have tried EVERYTHING: yelling, giving recess and after school detentions, having them write essays, praising or giving prizes to the good ones, waiting for them to be quiet, writing notes home, and having conferences with parents. Nothing seems to work. They don't care about any punishment, and they are so chatty that I cannot get anything done. None of the other teachers have any ideas either, so I am relying on the brilliance of strangers. Does anyone have anthing that might work?

Can someone give me some ideas to help my 10 year old son with spelling? He is a straight A student, but an awful speller. I guess they didn't really emphasize spelling so much in elementary school anymore. Thank you for your help.
