I don't. I think they are losers that can't get real jobs, who only work 3/4's of the year.

I think it's something I'd enjoy doing, and I have a lot of time on my hands right now. I don't especially want to get involved with a formal program, but I'm afraid to simply offer here, as the parents would worry that I'm some kind of predator.

I'm not a teacher, but I'm fairly well educated. Due to some health issues, and severe financial limitations, I don't feel as if I'm giving back to society right now, and my brain is my greatest asset, so I think this would be great.

Is it a pipe dream?

The Class of 2006 showed the sharpest drop in SAT scores in the last 31 years. Do you think students today are less educated then they were 30 years ago? If so what should be done about it?

Teachers, thinking back over your teaching career, which state or federally implemented programs were stupid wastes of time, and which really seemed to do some good? (Please let me know what state you're from, too. Thanks.)

I am currently enrolled in a class which requires us to create a thematic unit of the area in which we wish to teach after graduation. We need to make a bulletin board to go along with our unit, but I am fresh out of ideas. I have been searching the web and I haven't come across anything. I am also inbetween three different ideas for my unit - WWII, The Civil War, or Branches of Government. So I am asking for ideas on those three units for bulletin board ideas, this also includes clipart, and things I can print out.

Thanks so much.

I have an elementary education degree. Last year I couldn't get a job so I was a teachers assistant. Now the school year has started and i still dont have a job. I was offered a preschool teacher position and I told them I would take it but i still havent done the paperwork so its not definate. The same day a principal emailed me to see if i wanted to interview with them. I can't decide if I should take the preschool job and be safe and go ahead and start working...or if i should wait and see if i get this teaching job or another teaching job. They hire a lot of people after 10 days and it has been 5 days...the main thing is that i want to teach...but i know its really stressful and i dont feel prepared and preschool wouldnt be near as stressful at least this one wouldnt. any advice would be most appreciated!

My heart is really really into teaching people. I have A+ certification, MCP, Dell certified, training experience in corporate America...I applied to the state of NH for an eligibility to teach under the critical shortage alternative. Does anyone have any experience making this type of carrer change? Any advice? I am in college now at night but do not have an education degree.
