You must remember that you are not teaching a group but rather you are teaching individuals. Perhaps overall group work may be best for the group, but that does not mean that it is best for every individual in the class.
Try to use each of the techniques that you mentioned. This will help to reach all learning styles and this way everyone can benefit. It also makes for an interesting class that keeps kids interested and always moving. Let's face it; no one wants to listen to an hour of lecturing. And imagine if every teacher did that every period of your day! I would not be paying attention for long and most kids would be phasing in and out.
Mix it up and you will be doing the best you can for your kids. One of the keys is to use different techniques for the same topic. This way everyone will walk away having been reached. Do not do just lecture for chapter 1 and then group work for 2... Explain something and then do partner activities and individual practice and group work, etc.

There is no universal best teaching method, but rather a best teaching method for one particular group. One group may respond best to lecturing, while others may respond besed to projects; the answer is in your group. And perhaps you could mix it up; allowing for each student to grasp a different form of teaching, and learning the material, for that is ultimately the goal.

i think it depends on the subject you are teaching.i had problems with comprehension growing up. the method that worked for me is association. the best method that ever worked with me was visual association. i was taught medical terminology that way over 20 years ago, and i can still remember the meaning of all terms. it was an experimental class, and it was awesome. if it was more technical, hands on all the way. you get to see how and why things work the way they do. hope this helped.

You have to teach to all of the learning styles in your classroom, therefore you use all that you can to ensure learning is taking place. That is what a great teacher does. To use just one of the mentioned types you gave is not good teaching.

i think you need to first figure out how the majority of your students learn best. Find that out and the answer will fall in your lap.
