I am taking a class where I have to make a powerpoint presentation of my philosophy on teaching. So far I have it done but I feel like there isnt enough in it. The teacher said to keep it no less than 10 slides and I have 17. Does anyone have advice on what things to include?

Discipline methods (or a system of discipline) is a good start. It's virtually impossible to teach if you don't have control of your class. A friend of mine uses a felt baseball diamond to show who has earned recess. The kids names are on velcro tabs and they move around the bases as they perform well - they back to the dugout if they do poorly. Dealing with children who have special needs (those with ADHD or other diagnosed behavioral problems) is another important area. How will you devote extra time to them without short changing the rest of the class? Do you believe in homework? Do you plan to teach the same subject in many ways (children often learn better when something is taught in more than one way)?

back to the basics...
philosophy of teaching???
delineate several learning styles.....no less than the 4 "basic" ones...then show how your "philosophy" directs you to address each of those styles....
maybe include....special needs and gifted pedagogical concerns/needs..

as far as the powerpoint presentation; [with the individual classmate's permission] use a head shot of classmate to illustrate each learning style....at least it would keep them interested as long as their image was visible....

what about teaching ethics? i don't know if you already have it, but what about how you handle not only students but discipline? should grades correlate with behavior?
also, do you feel that you should know the students on a personal level or do you feel there should be a distance?
hope this helps.
