Just looking from a scale of 1-10, 1 being easy, 10 being hard. I'm just asking you to rate how hard my ACADEMIC year is going to be as a sophomore.

P.E 2
Honors English 10
Honors Chemistry
Spanish III (3)
World History
Algebra II (2)

Keep in mind I have Chinese school on Saturdays, volunteering on sundays, and community college classes for Biology on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Mondays I get home at 5 after Bio, and on wednesdays I get home at 10 after the bio and the lab for it.

Also, I'm in Track and Field during spring sports season.

I'm a 4.0 honors student as a freshman, same extracurricular activities as I stated before. I'm also in 3 clubs, no leadership positions next year.

Ok, do you think I shouldve got referals (saturday schools) for these?

1. My friend says "pass me that book!" I pass it to him, and he passes it back. It was a about 6 inch by 4 inch book. and probably a centimeter or 2 thick.

2. The old substitute tells me to go escort a kid to the office, I get back, and he writes one saying "The student got up without permisson and did not return to the class"

3. 2 days later, the normal teacher is talking, my friend gets blamed for talking while she is, and she says "you were talking! thats a referal!!" and then, this kid that sits by me goes "no, it was me blake and nick" and she goes "ok, since nick and you dont talk, you get detentions, but your (me) getting a referal"

4. (today) (same teacher) Theres a ton of kids trying to squeeze into a door, I'm like the first kid in it, and someone in the back pushes everyone and everyone bursts foward. The kid that pushed didnt even get in trouble.

I currently play a Tenor Saxophone and I'm starting next year in my High School's 9th grade band. I want to try all saxophones from the small ones like Soprillo and Soprano to the big ones like the Baritone Sax. As of now, I want to switch to Alto Sax and stay with it throughout high school. My teachers tell me that I should work more on my Tenor Sax and they all say that I have a nice tone and that I'm skilled at it. Is it really a good idea to switch?

We have moved so she doesn't attend the same school as she did in kingergarden. She was the top of her class in K. Now she is at the bottom in first grade. Her bench mark scores are good in Math but just below in reading.

i asked my teacher if i can still pass her course... instead of giving me a straight yes or no answer she decides to say:

"You completed 13 out of 26 of the assignments.
You did very well on the assignments that you did submit,
but unfortunately, there are 13 assignments that you are getting
zero on because you did not do them. This course work is worth
70% of your mark and your exam is worth 30%."

^ I'm Gonna Be STUDYING HARD, JUST So I can get a really HIGH score on the upcoming final exam...but even with my high mark on the exam can i still PASS the course?
****(Passing Mark is 50%+)******

On my exam i plan to get 90%-100%, i know i can do it too.

Anyone who responds with something like "these are the best years of your life," "just push through it," "it'll all be worth it!," etc. is either so old as to be senile, the kind of ape who does well in HS, or both. Don't give me that ********.

Simon's Rock, a college with a freshman class composed of sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds, accepted me, but the $50,000 a year tuition is impossible for me to pay. I seek to write novels for a living and have received about a dozen personal responses from literary agents; two agents are currently looking at a partial manuscript. I know I am more intelligent than most people at my high school, and if I have to sit through one more painfully shallow literary analysis, be herded through one more day of bell-after-Pavlovian-bell, be around the mental incompetents who compose this shithole, I will scream.

What can I do? Homeschooling is not an option, thanks to close-minded mother. I don't want to come back after the end of this school year.

I work with a lot of teenagers and it always bothers me when I hear about sophomores and juniors taking high school exit exams. In my opinion, I think exit exams should be difficult enough and cover enough of the high school curriculum that the test is still difficult for the average senior. Basically, I think passing an exit exam should indicate a general understanding of all topics including senior year subjects like economics and government.

Furthermore, I think passing the exit exam as a senior should be a prerequisite to receiving a diploma. Those who don't pass the exam can either try again or they receive a certificate of completion rather than a diploma.

I transfered middle schools this year and when I signed up, I had to sign up for the lowest band class because I didn't have the teacher recommendation needed to get to the higher classes. I've been playing the clarinet for four years, but since i didn't have a recommendation from a teacher at the school i'm in now, i got put into this class.
the class is mostly in seventh grade, and i'm the only eighth grader in it.
i was supposed to get into an advanced class but the teacher always "forgets" to arrange it with the guidance counselor, and now it's almost the end of the year.
we're playing for the whole school tomorrow during the school day and i know it's going to be so humiliating.... because we don't sound good. actually, we're bad.
and the worst part is, i know i can play better, but people have to think that i can't...
i get so frustrated thinking about it...

what should i do?
it's going to be so humiliating...

I think it's a state law, but it's not fair when we are struggling to keep our doors open, minimum teachers, bare bones. Don't we have rights too? Gas is just too expensive now. What can we do, please?

I am 14 and i just finished 7th grade. As you see, I'm year late. Next year i supposed to go to 8th but I want to skip to 9th grade.

Academicaly, my GPA is 4.0 and im in SAS(School for Advanced Studies, higher than magnet). I have the highest grades in all classes. 7th grade was so easy to me and i don't think 8th will be any harder.

Like in the beginning of semester, all the do is mostly review so even if I skip i don't think it'll will be much of a problem. I took pre-algebra for 7th grade. I personaly want to take geometry for 9th instead of algebra 1. i speak in 3 languages fluently.

In some ways, 8th grade will be more beneficial than skipping. But i don't know. Im in Leadership (something like student council) and i have a good school reputation. I won't be there in graduation and other stuff but i don't know what is more worth of doing.

Please give me an advice. Thank You

I need to find an AP English 3 reading list because I am traveling abroad in 3 weeks and I would like to have some AP books to take with me so I am prepared for the class when I return. I am having trouble finding sites that give a list and it would be greatly appreciated if you listed some books, either from personal experience or any other reason. thank you!

I am looking for something to give my daughter's kindergarten teacher as an end-of-the-year gift. Do teachers like getting school supplies for the following year even though they will have to store them somewhere for the summer. I was thinking of giving her a basket filled with cardstock, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, glue sticks, etc... I was also going to purchase her a prepaid gas card since the price of gas has dramatically risen and she is commuting between her house here in the city and to her mother's house near the beach to care for her elderely mother. I just didn't want to give her the gas card inside of a thank-you note. I wanted to be a little more creative. What do you think?

I am a teacher in an urban school in SC. My principal gives out $10 cash incentives for students who make the honor roll, do well on tests, etc. The problem that it has caused, which he does not see, is that the other awards given to students for achievement (like certificates and ribbons, like we had in school) hold no weight anymore. Students just complain that they didn't get any cash and they don't want a "stupid certificate". I am on track to becoming an administrator myself and was wondering from any experts, or non-experts out there what they thought of this. I'm interested to hear your responses.

The thing that the kids hate the most, is when there are more than a handful of students tied to get the cash incentive. In that case, he divides on persons prize money up among all the winning students, and sometimes they end up only getting 1 dollar or less, which pisses them off. Should I say something to this guy?
