I am looking for something to give my daughter's kindergarten teacher as an end-of-the-year gift. Do teachers like getting school supplies for the following year even though they will have to store them somewhere for the summer. I was thinking of giving her a basket filled with cardstock, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, glue sticks, etc... I was also going to purchase her a prepaid gas card since the price of gas has dramatically risen and she is commuting between her house here in the city and to her mother's house near the beach to care for her elderely mother. I just didn't want to give her the gas card inside of a thank-you note. I wanted to be a little more creative. What do you think?

It seems to me that the LAST thing a teacher would need are school supplies, since most are either supplied by the school itself or the students. The gas card is a great idea. Put it inside a thank-you card made by your daughter, with a footnote of thanks by you. She'll love it.

NO Most schools give every single parent a list of stuff they have to buy for their kids to take to class at the beginning of the year.

The teacher is thinking WOOOHOOO School is done! So getting her thinking about fall..ick. Besides, if she needs more supplies, which I doubt completely, she can get them from parents next year. Most teachers have a TON of stuff left over at the end of the year.

Get her a gift card, those are the best. Get it from walmart or starbucks or some place anyone could use it. These are truly the best gifts. Gas card? SUPER IDEA

What teachers get enough of: supplies, coffee mugs, stuff that says teacher on it, candy or cookies.

Perhaps if she has a dog, get her a copy of Marley and Me, or if she likes chick books get her a copy of one of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. Or get her a gift card to Books a Million!

I think it sounds like a great idea, but it depends on the situation. A lot of schools in my area require the teachers to buy their own supplies, so in that case I think it's a thoughtful idea. But if the school supplies those kinds of things, then maybe something else would be more appropriate.

Overall, though, I say go for it.

i think of it truly is a brilliant thought, relying on the present. I plan on paying for my daughters instructor a cutting-edge card on the tip of the 365 days. i think of she's an excellent instructor and my daughter has found out plenty from her. i prefer to coach her our appreciation for being an excellent instructor to my daughter. i'll purchase a cutting-edge card from Starbucks, a pastime save or objective. some thing which would be useful to her. college officers are not in the college room coaching "our" babies, so as that they could desire to no longer dictate what a parent needs to do for the instructor. only my opinion!
