i asked my teacher if i can still pass her course... instead of giving me a straight yes or no answer she decides to say:

"You completed 13 out of 26 of the assignments.
You did very well on the assignments that you did submit,
but unfortunately, there are 13 assignments that you are getting
zero on because you did not do them. This course work is worth
70% of your mark and your exam is worth 30%."

^ I'm Gonna Be STUDYING HARD, JUST So I can get a really HIGH score on the upcoming final exam...but even with my high mark on the exam can i still PASS the course?
****(Passing Mark is 50%+)******

On my exam i plan to get 90%-100%, i know i can do it too.

What score do you have on those 13 assignments you did?

Say you have 30% out of the 35%- if you get 90 on the final then you get 27% there- so thats 57%. To me a 57% would still be failing but apparently thats okay for you.

Because you didn't give me your exact grades on the 13 assignments you did, I can't tell you exactly. So, I assumed a 100 for each of those 13 grades.

If you make a 90 on the exam, you should still pass with around a 60. The lower you scored on those 13 assignments and the lower your exam score, the lower your final average will be.

Do you have a chance? Sure. Will you pass? I don't know. Here's some advice - it's better to just do all of your assignments along the way than have to stress at the end about passing or failing.

Let's say you had a 100 average on the homework you turned in. Then the portion of your overall grade that comprises is:

(13/26)(1.00)(0.70) = 0.35, or 35% of your overall grade.

If you study hard and do well on the final exam, say with a 100 score, then that portion of your overall grade is:

(1.00)(0.30) = 0.30, or 30% of your total grade.

Adding them up, your score for the semester is:

35% + 30% = 65%, which is a D in some classes, but an F in others.

I'm afraid you may be in serious trouble my friend. The grades I have calculated above are a best case scenario. Unless your teacher considers other factors, like class participation and attendance, or unless she applies a curve to the grading scheme, your grade on the final may not be enough to pull your semester grade out of the doldrums. Good luck!

It depends on what you go on your assignments that you did manage to turn in. Assuming that you got 100% on all of the assignments that you turned in, and 100% on the exam, then you should have 65% for the class.
