Primary & Secondary Education - September 2006

for my english class debate... ontario currently has a MANDATORY 40 hour voluntary service requirement in order to graduate, and i need a strong reason (or a few weak ones) as to why it should be removed. I'm somewhat thinking along the lines of 'students need the time to study and work and save up for college, not volunteer at the library and gain to valuable lesson'... tips please?

My son has always been a very happy child and easy to deal with. He spent two years in preschool and was fine. His first week of kindergaten he was excited and happy to learn. The second week of school he started a fight in lunch started to refuse to do schoolwork for the teacher and he continues to have those problems now. At home he does his homework fine, does his chores without complaint and is still very behaved. Recently the teacher called me and set up a meeting with the principal, teacher, and guidance councelor. they said they want himto be pulled from kindergarten and try again next year. But I know he woulds be fine in a few weeks What do I do?

Soon I will go back to school and there for the first time I won't know anybody. I would like to sound as funniest as I could, but still I wouldn't like to appear like somekind of a wirdo.

Ontario requires 40 hours of community service to graduate high school. Can you please name benefits of eliminating this mandatory requirements, with supportive backup (ie not enough time, forcing students to spend another semester)

if it says on my permanent record that I am a bully?

It was in year 7, when I was 12, and I called a girl ignorant, she complained to the head of year, who shouted at me.
Later that week, my elbow hit her arm, but it wasnt on purpose and she got a complaint letter from her mum saying that I hit her.
Thats when my head of year, called me, told me to stand and she sat at her computer desk, opened my record which didnt say anything bad about my behaviour, she then typed in that i am a "bully"...

If I am not able to get it off, but dont get a complaint either, will I be able to get into university?

I live in England, so I'm talking about Oxford, Birmingham universtiy and others...Can I do anything to get it off, or will it stay there forever?

And will it affect my carreer?

My son was diagnosed with ADHD and his father and I are working closely with him and giving him all natural things like fish oil and cutting sugar out of his diet. His teacher, the school psychologist and the principal seem to be demanding me to put him on Ritalin which i refuse. My son is actually improving and bringing home all A's and B's. Can the school actually demand that we drug our son against our will?
