Copydex!!! You could paint your hand with it and peel it off when it dried! Great stuff but stank of fish.

We used LePage's Paste Glue that came in a jar with a brush attached to the lid. It had a neutral smell.
So, how is it that you, as an elementary school student, knew what old ladies' pants smelled like? Just curious.

At my primary school we called it Marvin (Marvyn?). I never saw it written down. Then the cop who gets tied up in Reservoir Dogs turns out to be called Marvin too. Spooky.
I've also succeeded thus far in keeping my distance from old ladies' pants. Knowing what the glue smelled like, and thanks to your experience, now I know. Thanks for nothing.

It was a white paste that we used as kids, this was in the fifties though. I don't think I related the smell to old people's pants though. It was distinctive, maybe you went to school in a different era.
