I moved from Lawrence, Kansas to Portland, Oregon for a Writing Associates I saw offered at one of their community colleges. I took the time to see an counselor, and was told that the Writing Associates does not exist. There is a PDF file that specifies the curriculum, with a heading that states 'Writing' or 'Writing Program' on the college website. I was extremely upset to discover this, seeing as I moved almost 2,000 miles to participate in this program. It was one of my motivating factors for moving. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge regarding this matter?

Hi.

I'm getting ready to start college full time tomorrow, my first two years will be at a community college than transfer to a university. My previous employer is paying for it all.. :)

I have social anxiety, the biggest part of it is communication. I dont really talk to alot of people and that makes me think that they are thinking im stuck up or something.lol

I was just wondering if you had a 37 year old in your class, how would you NOT want them to act or dress etc..lol Odds are, I will probably just sit in the back of the class and not talk to anyone cause theyll be half my age, not that it would bother me if that would happen; but I just dont want to be the black sheep of the class.

this may sound like a stupid question but its been in my mind. now, I dont feel or look 37, but thats prolly what alot of 37 year olds think.

ahh, too many thoughts to lost about this topic, maybee im just having anxiety cause I start tomorrow. well anyhow this is my general point

I grew up and live in Mass and I'm currently in college. But I'm interested in going to grad school in CA. I found the perfect school but I don't know if i should go. I have no friends or family in CA, so it'll be just me. I would have to move all my stuff cross country. How would I do that and get started in at campus?

There are three state funded undergraduate colleges at Cornell University and 4 private colleges. I want to get into the business program which is in one of the state funded colleges.

Also would it be easier fro me to get into the business progrm or get into a less compeditive program and then try to transfer later?

Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks

This college made me believe that they had full accredidation when the truth is that they are on academic probation. How do I go about getting reimburssed? Do I have to take some kind of legal action?

It seems everything (especially University socialising) revolves around getting drunk. I'm not really into the whole getting drunk thing, and I'm wondering if my University life will be affected, as most people socialise in situations based on alcohol. Am I just being paranoid?

I get financial aid, & I don't have the money to pay for books because the check goes to the school. I applied for a book loan through the school that's NOT credit-based, & they deduct it out of your financial aid refund check. They declined my application for I don't know what reason. That would be the only way I'd have money for books. I'm very IRRITATED right now! I'm having a panic attack. I really want to do well this semester & pass, but how can I if my refund check doesn't come until 2 weeks after school starts, & I'm going to be way behind & it'll be very hard for me to catch up?

I'm a college sophomore at a university in Southern Louisiana, and basically I'm miserable. I've grown up here, a lot of my friends are here, but I want to go elsewhere. I want to move on...soon. My university has been knowingly getting worse due to budget cuts since Katrina, and I've essentially matured much faster than my school can keep up with. Many things are trivial and uninspired and it's wearing me out. I'm willing to pay out of state tuition for a couple years to finish my degree at a better college in a better place. I want to go somewhere liberal. Help me out on this one...thanks.

I am a freshman in college and I have A LOT to read everyday. I read the chapters in my textbooks, but it is hard for me to remember what I have read the next day. I have tried taking notes while I read, but i just end up basically copying what is already written in the textbook, and I still can't get the information to stick. It is very important that I remember what i read everyday. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can get all the information that I have read to stay with me for the long haul?

I'm actually a foreign language major (Spanish), and I my degree does not require calculus. I took pre-calculus about 4 years ago, and I made A's and B's, although that was at a community college and not a four-year college, like I'm currently attending. Today was the first day back to classes, and it didn't seem to hard, because alot of the material seemed to reflect a lot of what I had studied in Pre-calculus.

However, I'm somewhat worried about taking 18 credit hours. I'm afraid that doing so might take away from my time studying the area of my major, Spanish, which has been and continues being very challenging for me.

Should I just try and "stick it out" in Calculus I this semester, or should I drop it in order to focus on my major studies? I don't work, but it does take me a little bit longer to finish my homework because I tend to read at a somewhat slower pace than many of my fellow students.

If I major in English, would History be a good minor? I may end up teaching, so I was thinking that the minor might allow me to get two teaching certs. But I'm also wondering if it would help in other potential careers. Any thoughts on that major/minor combination?

I took my GRE exam today. My weak side was English and my strong side I thought was Math. Apparently, the grade I got was very Shocking. I got 370 in Math and 350 in English. When I took the exam, Math did not seem hard at all and I was expecting a 450+. My GPA is only 2.7. I know I should re take my GRE, but as of know what are the chances of getting into an ok Graduate School?

If your "poor" is it possible to go to a non- communtiy college? What are the best ways of doing that?
