Avoid all of the sarcasm and go to the source. The Association of American Medical Colleges (http://www.aamc.org/) has answered just about every question a potential medical student can ask.

And if you want to learn more about the different residencies, visit FREIDA ONLINE (http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/2997.html)

And don't worry...nobody knows what it takes to become a physician until they start tryingto find out. It's quite evident that some of the responders here need to buy a vowel.

Well many colleges and universities offer a pre-med program which you may want to consider. And yes, this is a program, but it is often also the major, or you just don't have a major, you are designated pre-med.

You could also major in biology.

In all actuality, however, you could really major in anything you wanted. Many medical schools nowadays are accepting more and more students with non-traditional majors. They are interested in having a more well-rounded student body so they are looking more at students who aren't the typical pre-med or biology major. If you don't major in biology or go pre-med, you'll still need all those pre-req classes such as human anatomy and physiology and organic chemistry. You'll need excellent MCAT scores and great letters of recommendation from some of your professors.

You can't spell the word "what" and you want to be a medical doctor? To become an OB/GYN (obstetrician/gynecologist), you need to go to medical school after college then several years of additional internship, residency and specialty training, so more than 12 years of school/training to become an OB/GYN. So, talk to your college advisor, s/he will tell you which courses you need to be accepted into medical school. You will need sciences (Chemistry, Biology, etc) and higher level math (Calculus, etc) and need at least a B in all of your classes, some won't take less than an A-.

As long as you take all the pre-med classes you need in college, you can major in anything. however, it is good to be prepared, so think about majoring in Chemistry or Biology.

In HS, you should take as many math and science classes as possible. Take AP classes if you can . To get into medical school, you should go to as good a college as you can get into.

Okay... you're the only person who has ever expressed an interest in this field and so the medical school, which specializes in training doctors of all branches, will be absolutely clueless when it comes to helping you choose your classes. The counselors will throw their hands up in frustration because no one has ever wanted to specialize in the OB/GYN field.

Oh.. wait. There are MILLIONS of OB/GYN doctors out there! Wow! Does this mean that there are people at medical school who are ready, willing and able to help you choose the appropriate classes when the time comes? Wow.. What will they think of next?

Seriously. Even asking the question makes me wonder about your ability to reason logically, an essential part of being a physician. Look at it rationally and you'll understand.
