I have a really interesting and original topic that I'd like to pursue for my Master's thesis but as an undergraduate student right now, I'd like to write an essay on this topic and submit it to conferences and call for papers. Do you think it would be in my best interest to not do this because it may allow others in the field steal my idea when I present it at the conferences? Obviously the master's work I do on this topic will be more in-depth and will be a lot longer than these essays I write for the conferences, but I'm worried that someone will steal my idea. Or does that never happen? I have no idea and need your advice. Thanks!

I have to read 8 chapters plus respond to questions on them by Wednesday. I have a midterm on Friday and haven't read any of the 4 chapters. I spend way too much time on my language class (cuz it's actually interesting).

How can I motivate myself to finish everything this weekend?

Here's the deal: A little while ago, I emailed my professor for the first time and called him "Dr. ................." But soon after in his office, I called him by his fist name - it just slipped!

Then in a subsequent email I adressed him by his first name because I already let it slip in his office. (He never said anything - he didn't seem bugged by it - but I'm sure he noticed the change).

Now I feel uncomfortable, though. Lile I crossed the line. He's really young and doesn't act "professor-like". Should I bring this up to him and ask him how he prefers to be called? I feel really weird.

I work 25 hours a week and I have to spend a longer time getting ready for my day because it is an office job, I am taking 16 credits, and living in the dorm so I don't have to cook my own food but I still have to do laundry. I am in an undergraduate research program that takes up 10-15 hours a month. And my classes aren't easy. I have to study a lot. Any good time savers or time management techniques to make everything go a little more smoothly (and give me some time to sleep)?

Fatty foods, 4-6 hours of sleep a night, constant stress, too much caffeine. What is your estimate for how much earlier I am going to die as a result? And why, if you have a reason for your guess.

Hi,
Every time when I'm in class either my mind is looking at some girl or thinking about some girl. And sometimes I stare at the professors ( she is hot) and my mind goes somewhere. And sometimes there are professors who sound bored when they talk and my mind doze off.

How do I keep myself focus ?

Well I dont really know how to U.S education system works, because I am a Canadian student. Right now I am planning on applying to a business school, and I am seeing what options there are in U.S.

A little background:

My marks in Grade 12 is basically:

Calculus 93% (repeated), Business 93%, Accounting 93%, English 86%, Geography 91%, World Issues 90%, Chemistry 60%, and Data Management 70%.

I have done some extra curricular stuff, such as played Rugby and Football in my junior years, and played hockey in my senior year. Also I am a part of two clubs (one of which i am a VP) in the school.

Also in case it matters, my grade 11 average was 80%.

I am wanting to know how do the universities in the US look at repeated courses in high schools (do they take the higher mark, or an average of the two marks). Which university in the U.S. would be good for me to apply, considering the marks I have.

In Canada, the universities here take usually the top 6 marks in gr.12..Is US similar?

I'm 15 now, but I think about what I want to do with my life a lot. I know I want to go into the medical field, to become a registered nurse. Since I live in North Carolina, there are many many colleges to choose from. I can't decide whether I want to go to a community college, and get an Associate's degree. Or go to a four year college, and get a Bachelor's degree. Do you think a hospital would choose someone with a Bachelor's degree, over me if I got the Associate's degree?
