The closer the years the less it matters, but even a single year can change what the text book has in it.
Will the new textbooks have the solar system as 8 planets or 9?
Or will some have 8 and some have 9?

If it were me, I'd purchase the edition stated on the course syllabus. Information changes over the years, textbooks are updated.
I'm not sure what you mean when you write you want to purchase your books to answer your study guides ....
Are the study guides on the course syllabus?
This piece has me a bit confused.
I'd go with the edition stated/recommended by the professor, as that is the edition (and therefore the publication year) they will be using as reference for your class.
Have an Awesome semester!

Yes it matters - Publication dates are related to the book edition that your professor might be using and study guides are definitely specific to the edition of the textbook.

Since you already know Edition that your professor wants you to use you should be ok. It's odd for me to see different publication dates on the same edition of a book. Why would a company publish the same book twice? They only republish when there's a new edition out.

on the end of the chapters in maximum books, there is area that can provide an outline of the authentic factors that were lined. i might want to also seem on the headings of the paragraphs/sections to work out what keywords you need to be searching for. i'm hoping this facilitates, strong success!
