I just started my Masters program in Biomedical Engineering and it's way over my head, mainly due to the very advanced molecular biochemistry and engineering courses (I've never had any engineering classes before - just basic physics). My other choice was MPH, and I've already been accepted to such a program, but chose the BME one instead. I am now strongly considering switching into the MPH program. However, I don't want to get myself into the same situation. I graduated with a Bio major and Chem minor. I've had introductory statistics as part of that coursework, and have taken a few random public health electives. Does anyone know if I would be getting into something I'm not prepared for again, or would this be something I am more prepared for?

Most of my history professors are old and Im beginning to wonder if it is hard to find university teaching jobs straight out of college. What do recent grads do and why aren't they teaching? Is it hard to get a higher ed teaching job straight out of school?

My undergrad grades were not spectactular, but my M.Div. grades are very good thus far. I am only in my first year of the M.Div. program, and have at least 2 years of study left. What things should I be doing while still in seminary to polish my resume? What kind of student is Union looking for? How important are GRE scores? What should I emphasize in the application? How should I prepare for the language exams when it's been so long since I've studied a foreign language? Are there any particular books, positions, or authors that should read or be familiar with before applying? Is it a good idea to establish rapport with faculty members of Union before applying? I need as much information as possible.

The most valuable occurrence that I have gained in high school came from my academic achievement in the educational opportunities offered. Probably one of the most important opportunity that impacted me was taking AP courses. These courses had made me develop study habits necessary for confronting rigorous course work. By taking all these AP classes,I am proving to colleges that I can push myself to the limit and that I can still maintain my commitment to academic excellence.I even went to City College over the summer to take Spanish 3 and Algebra II to take advantage of my education. I learned to be successful by doing my best in receiving my education. I started to play the piano and I was able to make my way through Jazz Band 3-8. From this experience, I learned that in order to accomplish anything it has to be done through hard work and commitment. Because of my accomplishments, I have received the AP Scholar Award and will be the 1st person in my family to go to a university.

Due to the recent popularity of highschool students wanting to be accepted into prestiegious universities, I am wanting to know what type of individual takes on the added responsibility of taking Advanced Placement classes in their high school. Are they born with dedication and self motivation, so much so that at their young age, they are willing to give up sleep and a social life to partake in clubs, sports, and lots of extra homework? I have great admiration for this type of person and would like to know more about what motivates them and keeps them motivated. Only serious replies please. You may be brief, as I understand the limits on your time, or you can give me as much information as you like. thank you so much sof-21

I have 9 gsces (a-c) and went straight to work after that. Just been made redundant and wondering what to do with my life. Not looking to go back to work anytime soon, and been doing nothing the last 8 months!
I've always wanted to go university and think i should use the free time I have now to achieve this. I have about £30,000 in savings, not sure if this willl be enough for the 3 year course. How do i get myself into an american university, preferably in a big town like ny,california, chicago, san fran etc. i
Can i support myself by working part time as well if the savings arent sufficient?
Will it be harder to do this as I'm 30 so will be a mature student, ie getting accepted for a course and fitting in?
I have about 6 years experience as working in IT (Programmer) and maybe looking at doing a course in Internet marketing or something like that.
I assume I'll have to do some kind of foundation course or something due to my lack of formal qualifications?
How difficult to get a visa?

I am applying a few good schools and would like to make the best impression possible. Are there any good pointers on what I should add? Any cliches I should avoid? Also, some schools require that I already pick a concentration and write which professors I would like to work with. Does this really matter as far as me getting in? Will picking something that most people want to work on such as US or European history make me less likely to get in? Thanks
