I'm really interested on attending University of San Francisco, the only problem is, its alot of money. i've recently applied to UC's and i am pretty excited. I want to become a physician so i'm considering which college i should go to. My question is should i go to USF or a UC if i get admitted?

p.s. if anyone has already attended or is attending University of San Francisco, it'll be great to get some advice on the campus and the school. Same goes to people who have are attending UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC irvine or any other UC.

thank you for your help.

Berkeley is a feeder school for UCSF across the Bay, which ranks #4 in the nation for its medical program. And just in case you change your mind and not want to be a physician any more, having a degree from Berkeley will help you tremendously in the job market.

I go to USF. I like it because of the small classes, usually about 15-20 people per class. The most people I've ever had in a class was about 40. The smallest was 6 but I guess it's depending on your major. Teachers actually care how you're doing and have office hours where you can go in and get homework help. Campus is great, good library and nice gym. I didn't live in the dorms so I can't really help you there. People are nice but I notice really clique-ish. They have really good study abroad programs, I did one and it was one of the best experiences I've had. We have a really big nursing program so if you're looking into being a physician, this might be the place for you.

USF is too expensive for the education you get in my opinion. I think I would have gotten the same or better at a UC at 1/4 the cost. You need to pay an activity fee whether you join clubs or not and forced to be a bus pass (I even asked why do I need to buy it when I drive to school and they said it's required for all undergrads. Well there goes $60 per semester down the drain.) I've had to buy like 2 editions of the same stupid textbook because they came out with a new edition the next year and the teacher wants to be updated with the current issue and I've many books that were required for the course but we only used them once, twice, or never.

Overall I like USF and the program I'm in is great but if I had to do it all over again, I think I would have gone to a UC.

I have a lot of friends that went to Berkeley and their only main complaint is that it lives up the the competitiveness. They stress constantly over grades and studying. Former straight A students are settling for C's, but say it's all worth it because "it's berkeley".
UCLA--one friend loved it but one friend dropped out. San Diego--haven't heard any negatives. Irvine-- my friends pretty much like it. Santa Cruz--they absolutely loved it (that's where I would have gone if I didn't go to USF). Santa Barbara--my sister goes there and doesn't like it but then again she's in her late 20s who's going back to school where she's surrounded by 18-20 year olds.

Ultimately it's up to you. You're always going to find both good and bad things with the school you choose. Just try to make the best of the time you have there.

I think you should go to a UC. If you are currently a California resident and have been living in California for the past few years, you will pay less at a UC than at USF.

If you want to be a physician, you should go to UCLA, UCSD, UCSF or UC Berkeley.
