Are there any bakeries in Orange County, CA that make authentic, old-fashioned NY City bagels? (For those who've never had them, I don't mean the fat, baked, soft, overpuffed monsters served at places like Einstein's, or Bagel Me, or virtually any chain "Bagel Place."). If so, where are they?

I used to eat it all the time as a kid, but now that I am 30, probably have not had 1 in 10 years. I do not know any adults who do.

I'll bet everyone that goes has a really good time, course there will be no beer served since most of you are not old enough, but I would imagine that Yahoo will spring for some soda pop and popcorn for the youngsters, what do you think?

I think it's north of Boston. It's been too many years and I just remember going there with my folks and having a good meal. (The only reason I remember the name is that my dad used to joke about "Mammy and Pappy Yocum")
It's ALSO the place that the servers used to ask what kind of "b'datas" (potatoes) we wanted!

Does anyone know of any? I will be there for about 30 hours visiting the city (alone) for the first time. I will be near 7th Ave & Broadway. I like Italian (esp. pizza), Chinese, and Mexican especially. I would prefer to eat somewhere that doesn't necessarily cater to couples or large parties only, but where a single person would feel comfortable.

I will be there mid-December if that makes any difference and will be on foot most of the time, if not all of the time. I will be coming in from Penn Station too. Has anyone ever eaten at Tracks in Penn Station? Is it good?

Thanks!

Nothing too fancy or pretentious, just a good place to eat and drink. Maybe near some cool bars?

I'm new there and I have a horrible craving for a good gyro, but both of the places I've tried aren't all that great. Any suggestions would really help.
