Are there any restaurants that begin serving dinner at 3 or 4 p.m.? I know this is a silly question, but I'm not looking for a diner or a coffee house and I've searched a ton of websites and called a zillion places and most start serving around 5 p.m. My company is entertaining some clients and they'd like to eat prior to the night event that's scheduled. The only thing I haven't looked at are the restaurants in the hotels ....Any suggestions .. preferably in the French Quarter.

Where is the best place to get good seafood in the French Quarter. I'm looking for something that is a little upscale that serves lobster tails, crawfish, etc ...

I'll be down there at the end of November for a short vacation and i'm just trying to plan ahead since we only have a limited amount of time.

Half of our budget is airfare and hotel. Dining at fine restaurants is not a big priority at all but we obviously have to eat. Any tips to eat inexpensively? I obviously plan to to take full advantage of the free continental breakfast but does anyone know of any early bird specials at french quarter restaurants or other tips?

I figure you would know. I had a shrimp poboy in Gulfport many years ago. It was not fried shrimp, maybe sauted. With a spicy creame sauce of some kind. I can't find anything like it. What is it that I'm actually looking for? I think calling it a poboy might be wrong.
By the way I live in the midwest so fresh sea food is kind of hard to get. We have a few so called New Orleans style restaurants around, but everytime I try to get it, it comes back with deep fried popcorn shrimp. While not bad, it's not what I'm looking for.
A transplanted southern boy at heart thanks you.

For my birthday dinner, I was debating either going to Hipstix on Magazine street or that Asian Cajun place in the Carrollton area. I've been to the Asian Cajun place and it's AMAZING. But I hear good things of Hipstix, too. So, anyone who has ever gone to both... which do you think?
