Are there any restaurants that begin serving dinner at 3 or 4 p.m.? I know this is a silly question, but I'm not looking for a diner or a coffee house and I've searched a ton of websites and called a zillion places and most start serving around 5 p.m. My company is entertaining some clients and they'd like to eat prior to the night event that's scheduled. The only thing I haven't looked at are the restaurants in the hotels ....Any suggestions .. preferably in the French Quarter.

your best best is taking the quest to a mom and pop dinner so they can really get the true new orleans experience. You used to be able to order dinner at the red eye bar and grill early it is a block up from the convention center but not sure if it is still open but i like the food there and ate there many times before i went to
here check this site out there is a list of resturants and #'s and opeing times may be if you have a large enough group and call the resturant they may open just a lil earlier for you
good luck finding one

Many of the upscale restaurants that are nice sit down options do open until 5 or after for dinner. Although many of the more casual places will serve food without a break between lunch and dinner (if they are open for lunch). You might want to try

Coop's Place

Or some of the other more casual options. But If you want fine dining you are correct you will need to wait until about 5.

Cafe Maspero's right across the street from Jackson Bewery and a block from Jackson Square is a funky casual place with great food for the price. Tujaque's about 4 or 5 blocks down river on Decateur St. a little more pricey but pretty good food. Emeril's NOLA is also fantastic but dinner for 2 with dessert about $120
