right now it is a bit difficult to tell since 'new' new orleans is still in the process of being created. so much is still leftover from the hurricane. :(
i think it will be better than the old...or at least cleaner.

I agree with Kiss. I am a Texan by the way. One of the first Frenchmen to explore the Mississippi Valley (LaSalle) passed what is now New Orleans in about 1682. I can't think of any other city in the South that has such a diverse history. On top of that the Louisiana Purchase added 828,00 square miles to the United States - almost twice as much land area as the annexation of Texas.

History is a terrible thing to waste. You can never replace 325 years of history.

"Old" New Orleans vs. "New" New Orleans? That is a very subjective question. In terms of history, very few cities in the U. S. have such a unique blend of heritages. In terms of modern day problems New Orleans has them all, and they were only made worse by the worst natural disaster in American history.

I can only hope that the U. S. can put aside all of the rhetoric and recognize that we can not afford to loose anymore than what has already been lost.

I'm pretty sure we'll (as in we'll I mean us who live in New Orleans) all say that we would rather have Old New Orleans back but I agree with Tragedys_Kiss is that I'm tired of hearing how we should rebuild and what we did wrong...let's fix it and make it what it was.

I love the people and the culture here and that really hasen't changed.

I love the downtown culture so much I'm getting married downtown.

No, as someone who lives in New Orleans. I would much rather have my old New Orleans.

There is something special about this city...and I am seriously sick of hearing outsides opinions on how we should rebuild.

I want my old city back. I want the dirty brown water line gone. I want Endymion to run on Orleans Avenue again. I want the Arboretum in City Park to be green and lush again. I want the lighthouse to stand upright again. I want the trees back along the lakefront. I want that sense of timelessness to return to the Quarter. I want my old city back.
