Yes! You can't get original Galatoire's or Brennan's oozy fatty, buttery concoctions anywhere else! Or a real muffuleta or real beignets. Or the fried shrimp. Down there you get a huge plate full. In CA they call a shrimp plate about 4 of them.

Yes - I moved from Chicago to NO in the NAVY and I still hit myself, that I did not enjoy the food untill my last year (4yrs) of service in New Orleans! Oh to have a real Muffoletta!

For tourists, the french quarter is what most people want to check out. go down bourbon street during the day to look at some of the really old buildings around the area(but you can do that as well by taking a streetcar down saint charles avenue you should do down riverwalk and the french market as well, all of which are within walking distance of the french quarter. i also recommend taking a tour to the saint louis cemetery no 1 if you have the time, or going down Frenchman street if your into a more underground(or jazz) scene. just have fun and be safe

I miss it soooo much! I go visit often, and spend tons of money buying things to cook at home, so I don't miss it as much as before.

Red beans n rice
Jambalaya
Crawfish etouffee
Hot sausage po boys
Shrimp and catfish po boys

I could go on and on
