I'm a server in a popular chain restaurant, and also a college student working on my nursing degree at a university. It absolutely makes me so angry when people think I'm some idiot waitress who is a low life with no goals or ambitions. Why do people feel the need to judge a complete stranger? Why can't some people accept that you can work as a server AND be in school at the same time? I can take the abuse that people give, because I know me better than they do, but don't judge someone until you know them!!!! Trust me, there are idiot servers out there who are totally incompetent, and I'm embarrassed to work at the same place as they do!

I thought the Big Mac standard developed by The Economist Magazine meant that prices were standardized by country, but I live in Bulgaria and one restaurant offers completely different prices for the same products. They are 8 km apart!

What are they like? What different choices do you get? Do they serve them in any of lunch numbered menu items? How much do they cost? How long will Pizza Hut be serving them for?

Okay so I work at subway and the thing is that I work at nights and it's only two of us and day crew has four most of the times some time one has the day off. The thing is they expect us to have all of the mayo and must bottles full along with the meats, veggies and ice before they come in. They want us to have all the chicken, terriakie chicken, steak, tuna, crab, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles ect. prepared with two of everything plus what they have for the front full. They want us to clean up everything and do it all before 10:30pm. We close inside at 9pm and drive thru at 10:00pm. It wouldn't be so bad, but the morning crew does nothing but prepare for the day make sandwithces and to thier afternoon money, bread, chips, and cups count. When I worked morning shift I was the only one who took tomatoes out to cut. When I tell them they werent busy they tell me it's our job to do the prep and fell up ice. Halfway thru our shift we run out of meats, cheesse, ice, just about everything.

As one of the takeout people in our restaurant I am dependent on tips for additional income just as a server would be, yet guests in general, do not tip the takeout person, why? Think about it, a server greets you at the table, takes your order, places the order, picks it up from the service line (galley) and brings it to you. They refill your drinks, check on you and then after completion of your experience, you tip the server. Now, the takeout person greets you, on the phone and in person, they take your order, place the order and many times, prepare your order, they package it and bring it to you, accept your payment, offer you refills if indicated, and thank you. What did the server do that is so much different then the takeout person did? Shorter exposure and time maybe, but not much other difference, so why did you not tip them? Ok, why not at least 10%?

When my friend and I went into the place, we sat for a while before we were helped. It was an all you can eat place where the waiter brings you the plates. We waited for a while for our second plates. When we asked for some more she took some plates off another table where people had just left and gave us those plates. They looked clean at first glace, but were greasy looking upon second glace. Disguested, we just walked out. As we left, she ran to the door and yelled, "Have a nice day. Thanks for the tip!" I was upset that we barely had anything to eat or drink and when she said that it really got to me. I asked for the manager and told him what happened. He hinted he may be firing the woman. At first I did not care, now I am upset that I may have cost someone their job. My friend said she deserved it. But I feel maybe she did not know any better and tried her best?

I guess that person isn't a very good tipper.. Well in response to that the answer is yes you should tip..Servers make next to nothing on their paychecks....I see if you get horrible service then no i would say don't tip....but servers work hard..They have to deal with alot of bull from aholes who complain about everything just to get a free meal...And when people leave bad tips or no tips we take it as insult...Some people you can give the best serivce to and it doesn't make a differnce...they still tip bad..But servers remember people and if you come back in a few weeks later don't expect good service..We would rather take care of tipping customers then the nontippers.Thats all i have to say..thank you

I don't want to offend any service related people, but if you're already getting paid hourly, why should you receive a tip for simply doing your job? The U.S. is one of a few countries where tipping is EXPECTED. Now, if your entire salary is based on tips or commissions, that's one thing. I'm talking about servers in the U.S. who are already making much more than minimum wage and still expect tips. And most of the time, they expect it, when they don't even merit that much. Example: you go out and eat. Bill comes to $70. Now I'm expected to pay an additional $13-$20 for someone to do what they were hired to do? I don't get paid extra for fixing something, or for simply doing my job. And honestly, for people who say, "oh, the job is very tough and demanding, etc..." I've been a server. I didn't like it, so I quit and got a job better fit for me. I think tipping should be reserved for services rendered above and beyond your normal job scope. Not a reward for mediocrity.
