A waitress does a number of things at a restaurant. First and foremost, she makes friends out of strangers. When people come out to eat, they want to enjoy themselves. No matter how great the food is, the waitress is the icing on the cake. She is the person that makes sure the guest's needs are anticipated and taken care of before they even have to ask. She can be the difference between an OK dinner out and a great evening on the town.
Seems like a lot to be responsible for, but when it is done with charm and genuine friendliness, it brings the customers back again and again. They may not even realize it was the waitress that made them like the place they chose so much, but they will quickly come to that realization if they return and service is just mediocre.
The waitress is the entertainer, and timing is everything. From how long to give the guests before asking for their order, to offering up a well-timed smart remark without crossing the line - it's a balancing act. Too much and you've lost them, along with yur tip. Not enough, and you will be lucky to squeak out a 15% tip. But for true friendship, fun and good times, the pay off can be out of this world. Why else do you think all of these college graduates do there 40 hours serving up good food and good times in the restaurant business?

First off I use to be a waitress for many years and my main complaint nowadays is when I go into a restaurant with whether it be my husband or whomever I hate the dialog how are you guys doing or what can i get you guys today. I tell them point blank I am a woman do I look like a guy? I use to help prep the food, set up the tables and mostly waited on tables and took peoples orders and treated them with respect and trust me my tips at the end of the day proved it.

Waitresses do many jobs, it all depends on the house.
Basic duties include serving customers, cleaning up after them and preparing for the new ones yet to arrive.
Some places have the waitstaff prepping food, making drinks and cleaning the john. In the bigger restaurants the waitstaff only wait table. It's a great job if you love to serve people and have a really long fuse.

Take the order, serve it, & make sure the customer keeps getting what he/she wants. Sometimes a customer will want to order something extra after they start eating, & the waitress should be alert so she can take that order. If it's a refill drink like coffee, she should check that the customer has a full cup.

it relies upon on how plenty you're paying for the buffet. if your paying like 25 funds in step with guy or woman then you definately will pay a pair of 10 - 20 dollar tip. while you're paying below 10 a guy or woman then a 5 dollar tip is sturdy.
