Because glass is actually less expensive to install than brick, so in theory, they are saving money by putting in two drive-thru windows. So, you see, it is not a waste of glass, but a conservance of brick.

It appears most Mc Donalds are a modular build that ensure efficient Assembly.
They build in the flexibility of an extra serving position, and it saves getting the builders in should the need arise. It might seem like an avoidable upfront cost, but I guess they know how often it pays off.

The place where i live, during rush hours one person takes the order, on Window 1, the guy feeds the order and takes cash, on Window 2 the other guy delivers and says enjoy your meal.
Labour is cheap here

They have two at the one I go to for my iced coffee. I pay at the first window and get my coffee at the second window. Of course there is a long wait in between the two windows.

You're supposed to pay at one and pick up at the other, and its supposed to be faster. Our Mcdonalds here, the first one is always closed too. Its like they figured out maybe it wasn't such a great idea after all. :o)

lol I have often wondered that myself. I think they use it during the busy times though, at least around here where I live. And around here, it's not just McDonalds either.. it's practically all of them who are wasting glass..lol

you mean two places to order your food, no one else i think knows what you are talking about. I dont know but the one on the outside (the second ordering one) is always the slowest, i always get screwed when i go to that one, because they take tthe person at the other one first.
