I thought the Big Mac standard developed by The Economist Magazine meant that prices were standardized by country, but I live in Bulgaria and one restaurant offers completely different prices for the same products. They are 8 km apart!

Prices vary based on location, because some locations are in such premium locations they can charge more. The McDonald's in Downtown Disney charges about 25% more for all items.

Yes, while the basic menu (big Mac, cheeseburger, fries etc) are basically the same around the world, different countries will often have additional items on their menu which wont be found in every country. It all depends upon market appeal. In the USA you can often find Chicken Fajitas - made of tortillas. This item is available in USA due to the large Hispanic population. It wont be found at McDonalds worldwide however because its popularity may not be so big in non-Hispanic populated countries.

There are different prices in the same town some places. I live in Anchorage, Alaska and many of the McDonald's are the same price as each other but not all of them. All of them have the dollar menu though (where I live).

they can vary within the same building. at some airports I've noticed prices are higher after a security check point (right near the boarding gates) compared to the ones before (the ones you don't need to be a traveling passenger to go to).

total ripoff.
