I'm in the market for LCD HD television. I'm looking for a 37-40 inch with a ratio of 8000:1 or more and format of 720 or 1080. I'm leaning towards a Samsung. Any suggestions?

Hello I have a new lcd hdtv and was wondering...which is better on the hdtv the composite plugin or the antenna/tv plugin for my dishnetwork (non-hd) dvr...i know this sounds weird because the antenna plugin is a coaxial im assuming but a i know on hdtv antenna when you try to hook it into the tv it gets a hd signal. i was wondering if hooking up my box that way would improve visual quality because my composite get pretty crappy quality on my lcd. thanks

We have freeview and are having a real problem with signal strength, picture on most channels shows 50% strength, but on others the signal drops and rises at randem from 70% to 0% and drives us mad, i have purchased a high gain ariel but think the problem may be directional, having looked at all the houses near, ariels are all over the place giving no local direction to point the ariel, so what is the best way to locate the optimum signal strength, and feed that signal to up to 4 tv's, help before i go mad and pull whats left of my hair out.

I'm trying to transport VHS footage to my camcorder to back up all of the old footage, however, the television/VCR combo I own doesn't have an output for video so that I can record the footage onto the camcorder..only video inputs. I'd like to know how I could get an output for video on the TV without having to buy an entirely new one. I've heard of RF Modulators..would that work?

I've seen an HP 42" LCD 1080p television for sale in the US - model SL4278N. What makes this different is it's ethernet/ wireless 802.11 n capability which would fit nicely into my wireless network connecting to my slingbox pro that pipes out HD pictures.

Does anyone know if this works in the UK (ie accepts PAL signals / UK power) and where I can find one?

Thanks

I was looking at Tvs at BestBuy the other day, and I don't think there are any North American TVs, or at least not any mainstream companies. Most of them are Japanese (Sharp, Panasonic, Pioneer), or Korean (Samsung, LG.) Can you name a North American company that makes good quality TVs?

I have a bright room and it's mostly going to be watching TV. I've got a PS3 and Rogers Cable. So they will have to have a HDMI each. I'd like to keep the price as low as possible but I'd also like a Great TV. LCD or Plasma debate welcome.

I found a TV i really like for a tremendous price.

It says it supports 1080i, 480p, 480i,

720p is not listed, I'm a little confused because 1080i is a higher resolution (even though 720p has a higher framerate).

This TV has nothing but great reviews even though it is old. It's a CRT (tube) HDTV, toshiba 34HF81.

Will HD channels look just as good on 1080i?. If they are broadcast in 720p, do they get upscaled to 1080i?
How will normal channels look.

And my last question is.. i know DVDs are in 480p, so what exaclty does an 'upscale' dvd player do, convert up to 1080i / 720p, but this tv has no 720p?

Thanks,

a confused consumer

I have a Samsung LN-T5271F HDTV. I just got it. How do I change the picture mode. This TV has 3 option as far as picture mode 1. dynamic 2. standar 3. movie. I can choose on of these options and exit the menu, but when I'm watching TV and I hit the info button it tells me that the picture mode is "Shop Mode" what is "Shop Mode?" Is there a step I'm skiping?

On at least eight separate commercials the TV volume increases substantially; returns to normal when over. I've gotten instructions from Comcast, but no help. Is there anything short of having the Tech come out that will cure this?

Thank you.
