I received an RCA 52" projection TV for free today from a guy that said it turned off on him as he was watching it. I pulled the rear panel out and checked for continuity/voltage with a mulitmeter and found that there was voltage (120v) in certain places on the board(s). I'm not a TV guru, so I don't know where voltage needs to be present, but I did follow the power and found some weird breaks after capicitors and resistors.. I keep hearing about something called a congelance power or something like that when reading about these sets, but no real information. Any idea on the cost of repair, or where I can get the parts and do it myself (electrical experience).

I just bought a Samsung LNT4061F television. I went out and bought the new Pirates of the Caribbean DVD in a widescreen format. I put the movie in and low and behold only half of the screen is being used and the lovely black bars take up the top and bottom of my screen. Is this just how it's supposed to be or is something not set up properly? I thought when I bought the new TV widescreen movies would not show the bar. Please help.

I have a TV with only the standard analog cable package (CNN, ESPN, etc.). I am worried about digital transition. After February 17, 2009 (when it takes place), will standard analog cable work just as fine. What about buying an HD tuner with that? Is anyone worried about similar situations as well? Do I need digital cable after that date? Do I need to buy a digital converter box or buy a TV with digital signals just in case?

I recently bought a new LCD 42" Flatscreen TV, and I want to connect 2 cable boxes to it(one is a GlobeCast and one is TimeWarner...which doesn't really matter). Is there a way I can connect both of these to the TV and could just switch from one to the other using my remote?

Right now cable companies are constantly moving channels from the analog cable TV to digital cable TV (digital boxes) When 2009 comes, will cable TV change? I know will all have cable boxes by then, but what about the channels?. Will the channel setup lineup be like Directv or Dish Network ch. 100-999?

And will they cost around $40, which is the value of a government coupon for those (like me) living in the stone age with an analog TV and rabbit ears?

So there's a 22 inch HDTV sitting on one table, and a 40 inch HDTV sitting on another table.

Why are people so drawn to the larger screen?

I personally find it over-whelming. I think it looks tacky when a TV is so big that it becomes the dominating focus of an entire living room.

Also, I find it easier to watch the smaller screen (especially in gaming). You can see everything on the screen at once pretty much, instead of having to look from one side of the 40 inch tv to the other just to take in the entire image.

Could someone please explain to me why these giant television screens are so appealing? I have a feeling it's a symptom of the greed we see today, with people wanting bigger cars and bigger buckets of junk food for no reason other than that they want "MORE MORE MORE!!".

Every time I watch the network channels like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX in HDTV, there are these black horizontal brackets that appear on the sides of the screen. Will network tv remove these eventually and present them as just as option, so you can watch programs in fullscreen, because it's a bit of a nuisance?
