i have a xbox 360 and it does not have an hdmi port on the back. it only has componet cables. i need to buy an adapter in order for this to work in my reciever since i am already running hdmi.

what is the name of the adapter/converter?

MOST recievers that I have seen have "dedicated" outputs on the units, so if you have your component input connected to the reciever, you use the component OUTPUT to get it to the TV set.....

Same with the HDMI.....

There are a FEW recievers that actually have a built-in converter so that all signals are UPSCALED to HDMI.....

I would suggest looking at the specifications in the instruction manual and read the chapter about making these connections.....

You may be forced to connect an HDMI a Component cable between the reciever and the TV set to get all video devices to show up on your TV screen....

Some receivers will up-convert component to go out the HDMI port. See if your receiver will do this.

If not - there is no adapter.

Run component straight to the TV and an optical cable to the Sony receiver for the sound. (This is what I do).
