Your TV is in A/V (Audio/Visual) Mode, which means it is trying to receive signals from an A/V cable (two or three jacks, in red, white, black, yellow colours). These are possible:
1. Someone has pressed the button on the remote to take it into A/V mode. Look at your remote/ TV panel if there is a button to bring you back to the normal cable mode. Consulting your manual may help.
2. Probably your TV has an auto-detect mode for A/V cables, and someone has plugged in such a device (camcorder etc) - unplug it.
3. Something else is wrong and it has gone into this mode!

Is there a Menu button on your remote control or on the TV itself? You should be able to get out of the a/v mode that way.

someone must have left the t.v on the video menu. (you use this in order to access and watch DVD.) just try hitting the channel button on the pane of the TV. or click on the video or menu then look for video to switch screens.

LOOK for a TV/Video button or an INPUT button on your REMOTE....
Press it....
If it's still black, press it again, then again., then again.....Your A/V in will eventually disappear and either give you a good picture or it will give you SNOW....
You WANT SNOW.....that means your TUNER is now connected....
Then you dial in your TV station....
