Sony makes great LCD TVs, great brand.

In regards to 1080p and this whole video format thing, you need to understand one thing:

Any flat panel TV has a fixed resolution. No matter what signal you feed it, it will convert the signal to match that resolution. The resolution is fixed by the design of the TV.

In this case this TV, it always displays a 720p image. If you want to spend more money, you can buy a 26" LCD TV that always displays 1080p resolution.

If you feed this TV a 1080p signal, the TV will display it in 720p; the extra picture information is thrown out.

If you feed this TV a 480i signal, the TV "guesses" what the missing information is and fills in the missing picture information. This is commonly called "up converting".

A 26" screen isn't very big for a HDTV. For use as a TV, 720p is fine. If you are going to using the TV close up, for example as a computer monitor to look at fine text or 1080p game with your nose up close to the screen, then you probably want to pay the extra money for a 1080p display.

It supports 1080p, it plays 1080p but it shows on panel 1366x768. difficult to make such a small pixel on 32inch panel. even 1366x768 it might me more dense than 1920x1080 on 40 inch tv. 1366x768 on 32 inch is really compact and nice. Go for a 37inch with panel 1920x1080 and input 1920x1080. There a lot of these out there. Toshiba, lg, panasonic.

Well, many think if you got 1080p tv all video will be auto display 1080p, false. It only display if the device or formal support, no televesion bloadcast support 1080p yet, only true 1080p content is blu-ray and hd dvd, and some ps3 and 360 games.

That's a good TV set, BUT.....

It has a 768 DISPLAY PANEL.....

Not a 1920 x 1080 panel in it....

So, it does recieve a 1080P signal and processes it.....

But it puts it on a 768 display panel....

You might want to invest in a higher resolution panel....
