Alright so I have an old tube T.V that just the picture tube just went on it. So im going to get a new HDTV and I was just wondering can I just watch my existing cable on it? (Im pretty sure I just have basic cable) I dont care if my cable isnt "HD quality". I just want an HDTV in case I update later to HD programming and for my Ps3/Xbox 360. Is a coaxial cable port on a HDTV what I need? Details please.

Hi, I am soon getting a Sony tv with 3 hdmi connections. I have a PS3 and a PC with a video card that supports an HD signal and has a DVI connection. I am very confused when it comes to male and female connections on both cables.
First: to connect my PS3 what type of hdmi cable to I buy?
is the tv side of the cable have to be male or female?
does the ps3 side of the cable have to be male or female?
Second: to connect my computer, does the the DVI side of the cable have to be male or female? does the tv side have to be male or female(i guess answered in question 1)?
Now on the DVI side, I also see some cables that say DVI-D??? Your answers are greatly appreciated and I apologize for my ignorance, I tried reading wikipedia but it didnt help.
Thanks!

I called my local cable rep. and was told that either way (keep my old analog tv or with a new digital tv) I would have to upgrade my service to a more expensive service and rent a converter box .

I have found I am not impressed with Comcast HDTV.
The extra cost for an HDBOX, DVR and HD Channels runs up my bill, I was not aware that it would run it up.
I don't like the extra Cost associated with Satellite? Is it that much better or do you loose service when the Wind blows, I live in Tornado Alley, .. I don't need that...

Apparently on February 9, 2009 all analog broadcast TV signals will go "dead" in the USA. You will need a digital tuner /decoder to get "over the air" broadcast TV; and cable and/or satellite TV
may require a digital HDTV decoder also.

However, not all TVs sold as HDTV have an onboard HD tuner. Even if you have a high-tech flatscreen you may need an external HD tv tuner. My guess is that many many people have
NO IDEA what is coming, and there could be a national backlash against the FCC, congress, and industry for "foisting"
this issue. What are your thoughts/ Are you ready? Is America?

I am the same guy who posted the "Does anyone have a manual for a C-something Sanyo TV" question and I have the same problem.
I got an RF modulator today for my TV because its really old and I want it to connect to my PS2 and Wii.
I connected it all up properly, tuned in all the channels to show the best picture possible and followed the instructions. I got a very shaky picture, shaky sound and whenever I make someone move, it becomes worse.
Here are some other details:
- The modulator I've got is a "S 9233A AV to RF Modulator".
- I had it on AV
- It comes with an in-built antenna booster
- Supports PAL
- I have a PAL PS2
- I had the antenna booster plugged in and on full power
- I had the TV before and my PS2 worked fine on it, but I had to plug it through a video player.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Should I get a stronger RF modulator? Do I have to get a video player?
Please, help me!!!

I guess nobody will want to make a analog to digital converter box that could be internally mountable because I don't want to deal with carrying the box room to room with a TV that I move room to room. But if there was a cheap enough hack I would be interested. Shame to have to throw the set out in 14 months.

We just bought a 46in Bravia Sony LCD tv and as we were watching it for the first time we noticed that within 1hr the tv seemed to generate so much heat, like overheating, which we weren't sure was a normal thing with Sony tvs. You can put your hand near the tv and it emits a lot of heat. We have friends who also own big screen LCD tvs but of other brands that do not have this problem. So we wanted to know if there were other owners who have had this problem and if so, what they did to fix it.
