We just bought a 46in Bravia Sony LCD tv and as we were watching it for the first time we noticed that within 1hr the tv seemed to generate so much heat, like overheating, which we weren't sure was a normal thing with Sony tvs. You can put your hand near the tv and it emits a lot of heat. We have friends who also own big screen LCD tvs but of other brands that do not have this problem. So we wanted to know if there were other owners who have had this problem and if so, what they did to fix it.

We have a Panasonic 56" I think that is the size and it generates heat also.
We have had it for 9 months now and still working fine.
I found it very strange.
I don't think there is a fix. You can try Fixya.com and see if there are similar problems and if there is a fix.
Fixya is a great site for electronics questions.

LCD technology generates little heat. That is why they don't have fans (thats why they are quiet and energy efficient). I think its the screen size, what size are your friends TV's. I think what you are experiencing is normal for a TV that size.
