The "TV/VCR" function usually is something for the VCR: it switches the signal output of the VCR between its built-in tuner and the tape.

If your VCR is connect to the TV with a composite video cable (usually color-coded yellow) or an S-video cable, then the TV itself has a switching function that switches between the TV tuner and whatever is coming into the TV's auxiliary input from the VCR. So look for a different function key on the TV remote, perhaps labeled "input."
Another option is to try changing the TV to channel 00. For some TV's this will switch to the auxiliary input.

most newer TVs use input. not tv/vcr this is to change your VCRs setting from tuner to tape. you can try channel 00 but that probably wont work since you have more than 1 input.
i have a sharp LCD i cant find a remote that lets me change inputs.

As long as the remote that came with the TV is working on the TV don't expect it do magic and turn on the VCR, DVD, or your wife.
