Is there any way to get just a few channels through cable or satellite, w/o getting the regular channels?

I was wondering as i just want sports channels.

To the best of my knowledge, no.

There is a movement afoot in Congress to force cable companies (maybe satellite too) to allow us to buy channels ala carte, but that doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.
