My husband loves watching sports. We enjoy watching movies together. I am thinking of purchasing the set and the plan. Is it worth it?

My husband absolutely LOVES it, especially for sports. I honestly don't care one way or another for the majority of shows we watch, but the picture is a lot clearer for sure. I think it's worth the expense if it makes hubby that happy :)

I regret not getting a larger screen! Honestly, widescreen still only displays a full screen at 16:9 which is 1.85:1 aspect ratio - most hdtv programs and some movies are this size. But the typical studio movie w/s aspect is 2.35 or 2.44:1 which shrinks the vertical size again. So consider a screen 6" or more larger than you intended and you'll be happier - or rather I would have been... unless you're already considering the 52"+ range.

I'm a huge sports fan and I love watching football and baseball on HD because the quality and the sound is a lot better. If you want to save money you can buy a HD antenna instead of getting cable because it'll get you all the free channels like ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX but in high def, which is really nice.

HDTV can be wonderful if you know how to choose the right plans from the right service provider. Direct TV has the best HDTV deals but you have to consder the signal going out during storms. Comcast never goes out, but it is more exspensive.

I only regret not getting HD service sooner.

The World Cup soccer was all done in glorious HD as are the Olympics the last few years. (It was for the Olympics we got the HD set).

I strongly suggest a HD PVR from your service company as well. This allows you to skip the boring parts, re-wind to the exciting parts and pause to take care of things.

No regreats at ALL!! I love it, was worth EVERY penny. In fact it brought my family together as we all like to sit down now and watch a movie almost every night. I am a die hard red sox fan and watching them in HD is truely awesome!

LG 42PX5D=best investment i ever made not only does it display georgous HD imagery (especially using the ps3 in gameplay) you can put sd cards etc into it to display digital photo images on the set. always worth investing in an extended warranty tho-they can be expensive to repair if they go wrong.
