YES!!!! I have both and now i Hate my standard TV.

But you have to make sure you have a HD source via HD Attenna, or through your cable/satelite provider, around 10-12 bucks a month.

Once you watch sports in 720p or Higher you will want to throw away your old TV. And never watch sports in any other way than HD

THe downer is that non HD stations are not improved. And there are only about 46 HD stations max, with most consumers having 9-30 depening on the cable pkg.

How does 720p compare to 1080p? I don't know, but so far i am happy with my 720p with no complaints

It's all in the pixel count.
TVs display in lines and pixels. Generally speaking, the more scan lines and pixels, the higher the resolution because more picture information is displayed in the same picture area.

Yes, there is no question that there is a sharper picture,
3 times as much.
Here's the math comparing 720p to 480:

SD 480 X 640 = 307200 pixels
HD 720 X 1280 =921600 pixels
921600/307200 = 3 times more resolution

Oh yes.

There is a staggering amount of detail and resolution in the more modern 720 signal.

Even on modest close-ups, I can see reflections of the stage lights in the actors eyes on many shows. Very realistic.
