I would call the place you got it from yesterday straight away and get it changed for another one

In case the operational software has been corrupted, you should remove the power plug for a minute or two. For my TV it is also indicated that there should be a minute delay after plugging in before switching on. This has happened a few times this week on my Sky box. I think that it is probably interference from all these flashing Xmas lights.

Other possibilities - Freeview poor signal due to weather, external box - SCART plug not seated properly (I can get that on wall mounted plasma if I tilt the screen).

Get it changed for a new one from where you bought it, it's faulty!
Modern items of electronics fail within the first 6 months if they are faulty & is the reason why you don't need to pay for extended warrantys also!
Don't agree to having it repaired, only replaced or a full refund of your money as it is not fit for it's purpose!
That is your right under UK law, don't be fobbed off & stand your ground & insist they comply immediately!
Know your rights!

Essentially, it's not your problem.

Take it back to the dealer you bought it from. They are obliged, under U.K. law, to repair or replace the television, free of charge (as it is "not fit for the purpose for which it was sold").
