And will the quality depend on the strength of your signal? If so and the outside aerial does not pick up a good reception what is the best solution?

I took apart my TV to get A dvd out of the DVD drive that got jammed up in there. On the way out, I cracked this green circuit board on the back of the TV. The TV will power on, but now there is no picture what-so-ever. Is there a way to fix this or do I need a new TV? Thanks, Relm.

Of course I understood when I bought it that the picture quality would still only be comparable to that of an analog source, because I'm not able to get a digital signal where I live (I just like the fact that it's big, bright, attractive and takes up so little room.) But honestly, the picture quality is FAR INFERIOR to the quality I got on my tube TV. Anyone else experience this? Does it have something to do with the widescreen aspect ratio? Help!

This tv is about 10 years old, which I would ilke to repair.
I replaced several parts, horizontal output driver and transistor, SCR for switching power supply, some diodes, several capacitors in the power supply circuit.
Originally fuse was burning out. Now it is continuously clicking which seems to be coming from flyback transformer.
When I check the voltage at the output of scr it is fluctuating between 85vdc and 150vdc.
A friend of mine tells me flyback transformer needs replacement.
I checked all the resistance readings on its windings with a special ohms meter, they all seems to be as indicated in the service manual.
Obviously there are no oscillations and therefore no low volatge dc outputs. No high voltage output either.
I believe flyback transformer needs air gap adjustment by using two plastic adjustment screws, so I can get oscillations, and then voltage outputs.
I have the sam photofact service manual.
I would appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks in advance

i want to connect a vcr to my tv. it's a symphonic st4813 tv (about 6-8 years old), and it only has one antenna connection thing in the back. if i want to connect a vcr to the tv to record something ON tv, is there some sort of adaptor i need to buy? i've already checked the manual for the tv, and it says nothing about connecting the tv to a vcr/dvd player. only connecting it to the antenna in the house. thanks.

The TV is connected to a HD cable box from comcast. it's fine with HD channels but on normal channels, the picture looks grainy, also what is this HDMI? I was reading the manual and it's supposed to be connected to my TV but comcast didn't put it

This is for use in the Borders where the analogue signal get turned off first. I don't really want to use a set top box unless there is no other option.

I bought a Sony Bravia LCD TV a few weeks ago & although the picture is fine and everything works ok when I use the Analogue auto-tune option, I find that the Digital auto-tune option doesn't 'find' any pictures when it runs. I don't think there is anything wrong - I think it's just me not understanding analogue/digital TV very well!! I've called Telewest and they assure me that I AM receiving a digital TV signal from them. I've also contacted Sony and they have advised that I would need to have a conventional aerial on the house to be able to use the 'Digital setup' (which I don't have). So, to summarize, I am buying digital TV through cable & I have got a digital TV (with "an integrated digital tuner") but I have to select the Analogue setup option to be able to tune it in. Does this make sense to anyone? I must be a technophobe - can anyone explain this to me, please?

This has been going on for years. The set will not shut off a lot of the time and I just get a white screen when I power it off.
The only way to turn it off then is to shut the power strip off that the set is pluged into.

This is on a CRT 27 inch set. Just wanted to know if the problem will get worse over time.

The power will come on for a few seconds, and then shut off. There is also a video tape that I can not get out of the TV. Either the power won't stay on long enough to allow the tape to eject, or perhaps the tape is stuck and that's what is causing the power to shut off. Any ideas, please? I'm away from home on a drilling rig and that's my only source of entertainment, aside from watching the cows in the paster, and that's getting a little boring. Hep me, hep me!!!
