I own Sharp Aquos after I saw several brands and finally decided on the model a year back. It has both NTSC and ATSC tuners built in (not just HD-ready like some other brands), 1366x768 pixels resolution, cable-card and other great features. I would advise to go in for 1080P (1920 x 1080 resolution) since you are making the decision to buy now. Make sure the model you select has the HDMI connectivity.

I have a Samsung in the bedroom and a LG in the lounge, both are very good.
Also, irrespective of the exterior casing, Samsung and LG I believe make about 70% of the LCD panels, the other manufacturers just put them in their own equipment.
I bought both of mine from Richer sounds, who always seem to do well on quality and price for me.
