The power will come on for a few seconds, and then shut off. There is also a video tape that I can not get out of the TV. Either the power won't stay on long enough to allow the tape to eject, or perhaps the tape is stuck and that's what is causing the power to shut off. Any ideas, please? I'm away from home on a drilling rig and that's my only source of entertainment, aside from watching the cows in the paster, and that's getting a little boring. Hep me, hep me!!!

I have worked on many of these sets. The video tape has most likely gotten twisted around the Pinch roller due to the idler clutch being weakned from use. Because the tape is wrapped around this roller it is not letting the tape eject, this is causing the set to shutdown. the only way you are gonna get that tape out is if you take apart the set, remove the metal sheild from the VCR deck which is held on by 3 small machine screws, 2 on the top near the front and one on the very back. then untangle the tape from this pinch roller and then turn the set on, it should then automaticaly eject the tape.

there is a shortage in the power mechanism, thats why tv won't stay on, the vcr is not helping any either, its triggering the power to shut off, you need to get it opened, by a pro, and get the tape out, that may solve the problem

those tvs are so cheap now, it usually cost more to fix it, or get it fixed. BUst it open and save the tape if you can.
